Every year the Scottish Tourist Board sponsors a NY Tartan Week with various events around the city. And every year we were asked to drum up publicity for the week – on a shoestring budget.

The Naked Piper
Everyone in New York knows The Naked Cowboy. Well, we decided to give him a little competition and spread the word that Scotland was coming to town. So on a very cold March morning, we sent out a very
brave Jerry Dixon, dressed in little but a sporran and a nice set of pipes.





Bringing Nessie Back
When a Nessie costume showed up at the office with no explanation, it took all of about three seconds to come up with this idea – an another three to decide to do it. While others were shooting the video, I got busy rewriting and recording the lyrics. (Yeah, that's me doing Justin's part.) Within a couple days it was up on YouTube, where it ended up getting over 120,000 hits and helped promote the upcoming
Tartan Week.

We also received a silver award for best use of new media from CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations – Europe's largest PR organization).

And so far Justin Timberlake hasn’t sued us.
